All the convenience in the world would be meaningless if we couldn’t match an Epsom salt bath where it matters: delivering magnesium through the skin. To measure this we worked with an independent lab that compared the magnesium skin permeation of Sore+Tired with a magnesium-based mineral salt.
The lab prepared test plates using human skin from a tissue bank and measured the amount of magnesium that crossed the skin barrier over 24 hours from Sore+Tired BLUE and 4 comparators:
1. Magnesium salts and water at room temperature
2. Magnesium salts and water at bath temperature (38o C)
3. An alternative formulation of magnesium salts including a chemical called DMSO to promote skin permeation
4. Pure water, which was used as a control.
The graph above shows the results of the study, where Sore+Tired achieved 24-hour skin permeation at a rate equivalent to or better than an Epsom salt bath and other alternatives.

I was initially introduced to Sore and Tired when I was given some samples during my attendance at the IADMS (International Association for Dance Medicine and Science) symposium in 2019. I started applying to patients at the end of their session without offering much of an endorsement because I really didn’t know if it was effective. We’re seeing good results so far. In SEAL training, we see various aches and pains—shoulders, back, legs, calves, and shin soreness. Some of the people with ligament issues or tendonitis are not seeing the same results as those with muscle soreness, so we’re using that to narrow down the type of pain.
